2019 Spelling Bee raises over $40,000 for children’s literacy!
On Friday May 31, ONE TO ONE Supporters and Vancouver professionals came together to compete to win the title of ‘best speller’ and raise $40,778! The money raised will be used to expand and enhance our programming across the Lower Mainland and reduce wait times at our existing program schools by enabling us to recruit more caring volunteer tutors.
The Spelling Bee is ONE TO ONE’s biggest annual fundraiser and a lively antidote to evening charity galas. The morning brings a lot of laughter as well as a good workout for the brain! MC’s Jonathan Berkowitz and Tetsuro Shigematsu make the event with their quick wit and game delivering pizazz!
Harper Grey Beards, a team from Harper Grey LLP, walked away with the winning trophy for being the top spellers in the room.
Congratulations to our champion spellers:
Champion: Harper Grey LLP
Runner -up: Clark Wilson LLP
The individual round saw ONE TO ONE Board member, Jennifer Smith, take the crown – congratulations Jennifer!
Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Spelling Bee—your time and generosity will change the lives of thousands of struggling young students in your community next year!
